Workplace Competence Assessor
( WCA )
Course Aim & Objectives
The aims and objectives of this programme are to impart initial training requirements to enable trainee Assessors to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out assessments.
This programme is designed for individuals within an organisation who are designated to be, or are seeking to be, a Workplace Competence Assessor.
Course Modules & Competency
The following modules and elements will be delivered:
Module 1 (Theory)
- Element 1: The Principles Associated with Competence Assessment Including Roles and Responsibilities.
- Element 2: Where do Evidences Come From.
Module 2 (Theory & Practical)
- Element 1: Planning Assessments. Practical Exercise # 1.
- Element 2: Evidence Collation, Evaluation and Determination of Assessment Adequacy. Practical Exercises # 2 and 3.
- Element 3: Recording Assessment Decisions. Practical Exercise # 4.
- Element 4: Providing Feedback. Practical Exercises # 5 and 6.
Course Content
Delegates attending this Workplace Competence Assessor training programme will be given a series of explanations and demonstrations that will identify what they are expected to know and do.
This will be followed by practical exercises allowing delegates to practice their skills, knowledge and understanding of the Competence Assessor role.
Course Knowledge Assessment
In order to verify that the Learners have absorbed the course teachings from the theory elements within the presentation, an open book written test (in an invigilated environment), shall be conducted at the end of the course. This has 30-questions and has a pass mark of 25 out of 30.
This will be followed by practical exercises allowing delegates to practice their skills, knowledge and understanding of the Competence Assessor role.
Pre-requisite
There are no formal delegate pre-requisites, although delegates must provide evidence that they have access to a minimum of two candidates undergoing an assessment process in their workplace.
