Target Group

The CRANE & RIGGING APPRECIATION COURSE training is designed for:

•    Yard management staff.
•    Yard supervisors who have a responsibility for cranes and rigging.
•    Safety Officers.

Course Outline

This programme is designed for those involved in crane and rigging operations in a shipyard or fabrication yard. The course is designed as a safety awareness appreciation course rather than being a compliance-based training programme. It is the responsibility of the employer and its employees to comply with all relevant OSHA/safety rules and regulations, as well as formal discipline training requirements in the jurisdiction in which they work.

Course Aims & Objectives

After this training, the Learners should be able to:

  • Appreciate the essential safety practices for crane operations.
  • Appreciate how various hazards can lead to serious accidents.
  • Appreciate how planning is critical to ensuring safety of crane operations.
  • Appreciate how load limiting factors play a crucial role in crane operations.
  • Appreciate how routine inspections are the cornerstone of crane safety.
  • Appreciate the benefits concerning the proper storage and maintenance of lifting equipment.
  • Appreciate the importance of tagging and identifications of lifting slings and shackles.
