Target Group

The WORKING AT HEIGHTS APPRECIATION COURSE training is designed for:

•    Yard management staff.
•    Yard supervisors who have a responsibility for any works that involve working at heights.
•    Safety Officers.

Course Outline

This programme is designed for those involved in any discipline that works at heights in a shipyard or fabrication yard. The course is designed as a safety awareness appreciation course rather than being a compliance-based training programme. It is the responsibility of the employer and its employees to comply with all relevant OSHA/safety rules and regulations, as well as formal discipline training requirements in the jurisdiction in which they work.

Course Aims & Objectives

After this training, the Learners should be able to:

  • Understand the definition of working at heights.
  • Understand the basic considerations associated with working at heights.
  • Understand the skills, knowledge and experience expected of employees who are involved in working at heights.
  • Understand the difference between passive and active protection.
  • Understand the need for good works planning.
  • Understand the basics of the employer/employee obligations.

Assessment

Written Examination – open book.
