Outline

This program covers the basic underpinning knowledge and initial response actions expected to be undertaken by personnel who are designated as being members of an emergency support team during an emergency in the workplace. It is designed to identify warning signs, prevent or minimise negative impacts of an incident and communicate the situation to all relevant parties such as the workplace Manager/Supervisor/Security and those nearest the location of the situation.

Objectives

The Objectives of first aid are to:

  • Preserve life.
  • Prevent the condition from worsening.
  • Promote recovery.
  • Provide relief from pain and discomfort.
  • Protect the unconscious.
  • Prevent further injury.
  • Seek medical help when needed. 

In this course, we focus on:

  • Understanding the Basics of First Aid.
  • Assessing the situation and recognising danger.
  • Responding to emergencies.
  • Performing basic CPR & AED.
  • Handling wounds & bleeding, choking, and shock.
  • Communication, and ethical considerations.
  • Promoting safety.

Appraisal Process:​

This is a 20-question test paper that will reinforce the Learners understanding by way of a 30-minute “open book” test paper, conducted at the end of the training day, which has a minimum pass mark of 90%.
