Workplace Emergency Response Offshore Safety

Outline
This program is designed to meet the initial workplace emergency response offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel new to (or experienced in) the offshore oil and gas industry. Additionally it covers the necessary PPE including breathing apparatus, Life jackets air pocket plus (LJAPP), and compressed air emergency breathing system (CA-EBS) used during offshore helicopter travel.
Aims
This Product introduces learners to the specific safety issues and regimes relevant to offshore installations and equips them with the basic emergency response knowledge and skills for travelling to and from offshore installations by helicopter.
Objectives
The objectives of the WEROS Training are that learners will be able to:
Gain knowledge related to hazards which are specific to offshore oil and gas installations, potential risks associated with those hazards, and how controls are put in place to eliminate or reduce risks.
Understand the key offshore related safety regulations and explain the basic safety management concepts.
Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment, and follow procedures in preparing for, and during helicopter emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching.
Demonstrate sea survival and first aid techniques.
Demonstrate that they can effectively use basic firefighting equipment, and practise self-rescue techniques in low visibility situations, including smoke-filled areas.
Pre-Requisite
Training activities contained within this package may include physically demanding and potentially stressful to learners. All learners who participate in such activities must be capable of participating fully.
NOCN – approved provider are therefore required, as a minimum, to ensure that prior to participating in practical exercises the learners must either:
Possess a valid, current offshore medical certificate.
Assessment Process
Learners will be assessed against the outcomes specified in accordance with the industrial assessment guidance detailed in each unit.
Certification
Learners will receive a UK registered NOCN Diploma Level 4 for Workplace Emergency Response Offshore Safety (WEROS). Certificates are awarded from the UK and will be forwarded post course in soft copy to the individuals and/or the employer point of contact.
Validity
The maximum interval between the successful completion of WEROS training is 4 years.
